Papers

Most of our more recent work is unpublished. If you are interested in the technical details of our more recent work, please contact us. Below are links to several very old papers that together summarize what is publicly available about our work:

Future Visual Microsensors for Mini/Micro UAV Applications: Centeye founder Geoffrey Barrows gave a plenary talk at the 2002 Conference on Cellular Neural Networks and Applications in Frankfurt, Germany. The corresponding paper is a mini-manifesto on the type of visual microsensors we will build over the next five years.

Biomimetic Visual Sensing and Flight Control: This paper, presented at the 2002 Bristol Conference on UAV Systems, describes several DARPA-sponsored research efforts to develop sensing and flight control algorithms inspired from recent advances in the understanding of insect flight.

Mixed-Mode VLSI Optic Flow Sensors for In-Flight Control of a Micro Air Vehicle: This paper from 2000 summarizes Barrows's earlier work on optic flow sensors at the Naval Research Laboratory.

Geoffrey Barrows' Ph.D. dissertation: Geoffrey Barrows's Ph.D. dissertation summarizes work performed at the Naval Research Laboratory during the period from 1997 through 1999.
